Ross tried to stop brand ?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/sep/20/jonathan-ross-russell-brand-sachsgate

Russel Brand has revealed, in his new book, how Ross twice tried to convince him not to air the answer phone messages left to Sachsgate.

"I said I thought they were funny so we decided to leave them in"

In Brand's new book, serialised Booky wook 2 by the sun today, he claims that the BBC were previously concerned that there may be a problem even before the Daily Mail splashed the story all over the place.

He also writes, "For the next weeks show they asked us not to refer to the incident, which i didn't. Well i did a bit."

Brand resigned after the scandal as did Ross after his contract ended this year.

Magazine representing gender i an interresting way: Nuts Magazine
I have chosen Nuts Magazine because i think that it represents both genders in interresting ways. I think that the magazine shows females as toys or items to be used, and it shows males as lazy and perverted.

i think that this is an unfair view of both males and females, obviously there are those who play to these stereotypes but the i the geneal public most people do not fit into either of these catergories.

... all we know is he's called the STIG

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11162227

"Some say that in a previous life he was a muscle car and he can drive a stick only with his left foot. All we know is he's called the Stig."

Ben Collins has today won a legal fight enabling him to publish a book claiming that he is the stig. As a former Formula3 driver, stuntman and all around action man it is quite possible that he is the stig, but could this cause trouble with the BBC and future Top gear seasons.

He has been a stunt double for actors Nicholas Cage and Daniel Graig and has served time in the army, his publicist has said that he keeps fit by running marathons and triathlons, so with all this could he really be the stig?

Frankie Boyle: offensive or hilarious?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/aug/26/frankie-boyle-channel-4-series

Franie Boyle is one of the most controversial comics of his generation, he has often been slated for comments he has made about the queen and olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington.

Boyle who has become widely popular through BBC television show Mock The Week, often makes controversial jokes but his comment about the queen, "I'm now so old my pussy is haunted" was seen as too far for many people.

Boyles show will be in a late-night slot and has been described as "not for the faint hearted".

Personally i think that Frankie Boyle is a genius and that his comment about the queen was very funny, i was watching Mock The Week when it happened and i literally Rolled On the Floor Laughing. (ROFL)

Murdoch: tablets are the future of news corp

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/pda/2010/aug/03/rupert-murdoch-ipad-paywalls

"It looks like they will sell around 15m iPads this calender year and more than 40m by 2012. And the Ipad is just one of the many tablet or slate computers in the pipeline. News Corp fully intends to be across all those platforms too."

So Rupert Murdoch is cosying up to Apple and well who can blame him, as one the biggest names in the media industry apple are a good friend to have, Murdoch clearly knows this.

It is reported that blackberry are preparing to take on Apple as their new Torch phone is a big rival to Apples core market. Also Blackberry have been working on a direct rivalk to the Ipad dubbed the Blackpad.

ways in which truth is shown in a documentary

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-men-who-jump-off-buildings/4od

After watching an advert for a car i can't buy and a Tom Jones CD i don't want to buy on the 4OD site, the programme starts.

Notice i haven't chosen the most obvious documentary, as to be honest they bore me, i think it will be interresting to note how this one shows truth and compare it to your everyday boring documetary.

This documentary uses a mixture of base jumping clips and one-on-one interviews to show the truth of how the base jumping world works.

The documentary follows two base jumpers, Dan Witchalls and Ian Richardson, these two jumpers are nicknamed the "bandit jumpers" due to the fact that they jump buildings at night.

We learn that some of the london landmarks they have jumped from include:
  • wembley stadium
  • the O2 arena
  • nelsons collum
  • the hilton hotel

During the documentary truth is shown through the use of original jump footage and personal interviews with the jumpers.

how much power do you think the media has in our society?

  • it is argued that the headline, seen in the picture, lost Kinnock the election in 1992.
  • The Sun has circulation figures of over 3 million people so its readership (the amount of people who actually read it) will be even higher than this.
  • The Sun is owned by Media Giant Rupert Murdoch who also owns The Times Newspaper and Sky. So cynergy can be used and they can heavily promote views onto the public.

  • Celebrities use gatekeeping with media outlets to try and control what the public think of them, so they obviously feel that the media has a large effect on the general public and there views.

richard desmond buys channel 5

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/189008/New-Channel-5-boss-Richard-Desmond-vows-I-will-invest-in-the-best-of-British

"NEW Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond has pledged to keep the top televison station as a puclic service broadcaster while investing in high quality and diverse programmes."

So now that the pornographer in chief has now bought Channel 5 from RTL for a reported £104 million he seems to be doing it for good reasons.

BUT interestingly i found this quote on the Daily Express site, and to be fair he owns it!

richard desmond bidding for channel 5

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/audio/2010/jul/22/media-talk-podcast-richard-desmond-channel-five

Richard Desmond : pornographer in chief :

RTL who own Channel 5 now want to sell; Richard Desmond, who owns the Daily Star and the Daily Express, is the most serious bidder. Channel 4 have also been bidding but at this time Richard Desmond is the most likely person to buy the channel from RTL.

Richard Desmond may be seen as an unsuitable candidate to own Channel 5 as he owns the channel Television X and the Daily Star.

From March '09 to March '10 the Daily Star was the only newspaper which circulation figures grew for, they grew by 7.65% .

Although Richard Desmond also owns OK! and NEW! which are both successful and have become more successful over the years. So does this mean that he will stay proffessional and keep Channel 5 from becoming a failing media outlet.
